Year 5 - Hares
Welcome
Learning
PE
Our PE days are Monday and Friday.
This will start from the first full week of term.
For the Monday session, the children will need to arrive in uniform and bring their PE kit to get changed into later in the afternoon.
On Fridays, the children will need to come in already dressed in their PE kit and will wear it all day.
Navy shorts or joggers.
White or blue t-shirt (No football shirts).
Plimsols or trainers.
Dark coloured plain tracksuit can be worn during cold weather.
Long hair must be tied back and jewellery must be removed.
Our music lesson will take place on a Friday morning.
Equipment
The children do not need to bring any stationery or similar equipment into school, as all of the required items are provided in class. However, the children can bring in a small pencil case with colouring pens/pencils in if they wish to, but this must be stored in their lockers.
We also kindly ask that children do not come into school with any toys or similar, unless this has been specifically agreed in advance with a member of staff.
Water bottles are permitted to be kept in class and will be stored in a suitable place within the classroom that will be accessible for the children throughout the day.

Year 5 Spellings -
Home Learning
Homework will be set every Wednesday, this will be online learning and will be a mixture of:
- Maths - TT Rock stars, times tables practice and MyMaths tasks.
- Spelling/grammar - Tasks to complete on SPAG.com. Spellings will continue to be sent home with the children on Wednesdays and tested the following Monday.
- Reading - Children who read at least 3 times a week at home and bring in their reading diaries on Fridays to prove it will continue to be given a reading reward.
In addition to this, every term we will be setting a project (linked to one of our current topics) for you to complete at home.
Educational Visits
We have two very exciting trips planned for year 5 this year. The first will be to Winchester Science Centre as part of our Science topic, ‘Earth, sun and moon’, and will be taking place in the autumn term. In the Spring term, we will be visiting the Gilbert White Field Studies Centre as part of our Geography topic, ‘Rivers’. More details will be sent out regarding both trips nearer the time but the anticipated costs of each trip is approximately £16 per child.
